8½ Reader-Friendly Tips for eBook
Authors
1. Avoid delivering your ebook as an executable or a word
document.
Word documents and executables can
contain viruses and even though you wouldn't include one,
someone else could -- and then redistribute the package.
Respect your reader's computer. Stick to ebooks, documents, and
publications that can be read by a viewer, preferably
Adobe PDF, but you can also use Adobe flashpaper or other flash
viewer, or a tool like Desktop Author in DNL viewer mode.
2. Be sure your eBook content
is worth reading.
There are many reasons why you might write an ebook. You
need a giveaway to entice visitors to sign up for a newsletter.
You need a medium in which to imbed affiliate links for
products you'd like people to buy. You need to build interest
in a product or service you want to sell. You'd like to provide
worthwhile, meaningful content for a price. Whatever your
motivation, try to respect your reader's time -- nonsense is
nonsense, regardless of whether you give it away or ask your
reader to pay. Respect your reader by making sure your content
is worth reading.
3. Look professional by
polishing your spelling and grammar.
Your reader will appreciate something written by someone who
