This book is an informative read as well as an excellent reference. Its style, compact size and sequence of rules is reminiscent of Strunk and White's classic Elements of Style, not just to be read and cast aside, but worthy of a place on your desk next to your dictionary, thesaurus, and style manual.

It covers basic principles of composition and the organization of the material in your document. Chapters on wording and phrasing and Tone are followed by excellent coverage of the principles of persuasion, one of Bly's specialties. Final chapters cover punctuation and grammar, abbreviation, capitalization and spelling, and principles of format. Follow the guidelines in this book and you'll never go wrong.

Bly is an iconic figure in the writing industry, and a specialist in writing about writing. Blake is the director of the Communication Workshop, a consulting firm specializing in on-site seminars and workshops on business, technical, and proposal writing for major corporations.
